bullet  General Notes:

1851 Census for Newcastle-under-Lyme - living at 4 Hubbs? Gate (24, shoemaker, b.Brimpton? Cottrill, Gloucestershire) with brother-in-law George Hawd? (33, chairmaker,b. Newcastle) and George's family; wife Ann (31,b.Scotland) and children Alfred (7,scholar,b.Newcastle) and Emma (6mths,b.Newcastle). [Class: HO107; Piece: 2001; Folio: 195; Page: 17; GSU roll: 87403] NB. What makes John a brother-in-law? I'm guessing that he's Ann Hawd's brother since his condition is unmarried.

1861 Census for Newcastle-under-Lyme - living in Fletcher St (35,lodger,unmarr,?wainer, b.Gloustershire) - he's living with Jane Burks? (35,Marr?,b.Cannock) with children Frederick (17,Gen. Labourer,b.Sandbach), Erline? (16,b.Sandbach), Emmilea (15,b. Sandbach), Elizabeth (7,Newcastle), Ann Jane (4,b.Newcastle) and Admary? (1,Newcastle). [Class: RG9; Piece: 1916; Folio: 146; Page: 24; GSU roll: 542887] NB. This looks lile the right family (no pun intended!) as the ages and places match. However if John is just the lodger and Jane has a different surname then maybe she's a widow here and John marrys her later. This would mean that Elizabeth Wright has another biological father.

1871 Census for Monks Coppenhall, Cheshire - Living on Nantwich Road (43, shoemaker, b. Hanpston Cottock?,Gloucester) and wife Jane (42,b.Wolverhampton) and children Ann Jane (13, b. Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs), Agnes Mary (11,b. Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs) and Lodger William Rathbone (19,b.Preston,Lancs.). [Class: RG10; Piece: 3710; Folio: 106; Page: 13; GSU roll: 842121]

1881 Census for Monks Coppenhall, Cheshire - Living at 116 Mill Street (53, widow, shoemaker, b. Gloucester) and children Elizabeth Charlesworth (27,married,b. Newcastle, Staffs) with husband James Charlesworth (29, Pedlar, b. Acton, Cheshire), Ann J. (24, unmarried, vocal professional [musician], b. Newcastle, Staffs), Agnes (20, unmarried, greengrocer, b. Newcastle, Staffs) and grand children, James Charlesworth (7, b. Manchester), Elizabeth Charlesworth (5, b.Acton), William Charlesworth (3, b. Stockport) and Albert W. Wright (1, b. Crewe).
