[Pat Sheldon (sheldon6154@googlemail.com) had Mary born Cheddleton, bapt.18th Nov 1782, with parents John and Ann Lovatt, however Jean Jones (pjeanj@btinternet.com] had Mary born Trentham, bapt. 21st April 1782 daughter of Joseph Lovatt and Elizabeth. She'd checked Mary's marriage certificate but that only gave Stoke on Trent as place of residence, 1841 census said Staffordshire, but the 1851 census said Trentham as her place of birth. Jean's evidence appears to be the best.]
Mary married Stephen Shenton, son of John Shenton and Susannah, on 17 Jun 1799 in St Peter's, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs.215 (Stephen Shenton was born about 1779 in Cheddleton, Staffordshire, christened on 7 Feb 1779 in Cheddleton, Staffordshire,215 died on 7 Dec 1871 216 and was buried in St John's Wetley Rocks 217.)
