He was a Methodist Lay preacher. Preached at Cross Street, Stoke.
Worked for Thorleys of Stoke, 6 horse wagonner.
Looked after horses for "Buffalo" Bill's Wild West Show, when he (William F Cody) brought his show to Stoke. He visited the UK in 1887, 1891-92 and 1903-04. A newspaper reported that the show in 1904 involved up to 800 people and 500 horses.
IGI records say "George Henry Simmons".
First Marriage Cert. shows name of "Symmonds" and witnesses; Dad Henry and Elizabeth's sister Selina.
