1841 census names him as Gerard., although others have named him as Gerart.

Gerard married Elizabeth Shenton, daughter of Stephen Shenton and Mary Lovatt, on 25 Oct 1841. (Elizabeth Shenton was born on 4 Aug 1810 in Cheddleton, Staffordshire, christened on 17 Aug 1810 in Cheddleton, Staffordshire and died in 1886.)
