1818 Lancashire Directory : entry for Duncuff James, boilermaker, 7 Bowran St., Preston.

1841 Census : Living at Bath Street, Hanley (Aged 57, boiler mr, not born Staffs) with wife Elizabeth (58,not b. Staffs) and child Thomas(3,boiler mr,not b. Staffs). N.B. Son Thomas should be aged 27. There were no grandchildren called Thomas and this Thomas is otherwise missing from the 1841 census. [Class: HO107; Civil Parish: Stoke Upon Trent; County: Staffordshire; Enumeration District: 7; Page: 13; Line: 12; GSU roll: 474620]

1851 Census : Living at New Street, Hanley, S-O-T (67, Boilermaker,b. Northwich, Cheshire) with wife Elizabeth (68,b. Northwich). They had a visitor, Ann Hill. Aged 67. Next door is William Duncalf (32, boilermaker) with wife Sarah and 2 children. [Class: HO107; Piece: 2004; Folio: 92; Page: 27; GSU roll: 87406]

Aged 69 at Death. Burial also recorded in Stoke-on-Trent St Peter
Register. Died at Spittals Workhouse, S-O-T.

Anne Cole's research makes them related. I wasn't sure if he is related but almost certain. (see 1851 Hanley Census - he lived in the same street as two other Duncalf families; William and Sarah Duncalf and James and Ann Duncalf. Both William and James are the right age to be sons of James and all three men are boiler makers. Coincidence ?? The
younger James and William don't share the same birth place though.)
