Her birth certificate spells her surname as Ferrady.

Mary married John Edwin Shingler (who, by the 1891 Census, was living at 41 Back West St., Hanley (18, Coal Miner,b. Milton) with his mother and sisters [Class: RG12; Piece: 2167; Folio 125; Page 34; GSU roll: 6097277].
There is a record for their marriage on the civil registrastion index [Jan,Feb,Mar quarter, 1902, Stoke T., 6b, 312]

She was then widowed from John Edwin and then married Francis.W Duncalf.

Francis was Sarah's father although her birth certificate states Edwin. The story goes that Mary had an affair with Francis while Edwin was at war. Edwin was also supposed to have been killed in the war (in India). However, on a copy of Sarah Duncalf's birth cert. he is the signature to obtain it for purposes of the Factory and Workshop Act.
The copy is dated 30th Jan 1919, three years after Mary's remarriage!

1967 : Death cert. states she was the widow of Francis William Duncalf.
Died of 1a. Haemopericardium (split of left ventricle), 1b.Coronary atheroma, 2. Choleithiasis
Burial Fees (receipt no.42932 Carmountside Crematorium) where £6.6sh.
Funeral Directors (Joseph Lymer & Son) fees where £50.13sh.6p. The bill states 3 cars, best coffin and interior, silver fittings and engraved plate, gown, silk robe... a Sentiel Obit. was placed.
